Schools in New Zealand have the opportunity to design a curriculum which meets the particular needs of its community and students. The Lauriston School Curriculum has been designed to follow the New Zealand Curriculum document which was implemented by the Ministry of Education in 2009.

Our Lauriston School curriculum is not a static, 'set in concrete' piece of work, but a living document. At Lauriston School we need our curriculum to be relevant, engaging and meaningful in order for our students to have rich, powerful learning experiences. We are constantly looking to improve programmes, by making adjustments where necessary, to meet the needs of the students at the time.

In 2020 we are further developing our school values which over 2018-2020 have been explored with students and teaching staff through a Te Ao Maori perspective combining the Science, Social Sciences, Health curriculum with school values and key competencies. As such our values are now reflected through the narrative of our place and our eco-system (the natural world) and the unique ngahere-interconnected living system of native NZ creatures, plants and ecologies:
