The children have been doing some very big thinking about our production. We have been reading lots of books about Antarctica and learning about some of the environmental issues faced there. We have been learning about Global Warming, melting icecaps and the depleting food sources. The children have blown me away with their ideas too! Alongside the storyline, we have been learning some very catchy penguin songs and dances.
Making toast was a great way of learning about sharing and wholes, halves and quarters and PMP was a blast with lots of little people joining us in the hall.
A look at the week ahead.
This week we will be working with the senior children to find out about the show ‘plot’ and to see how our ideas and story line fits in. We will be thinking about characters and costumes this week also. If there are any crafty parents/grandparents who are super sewers and would like to help out, please let us know as I would not know where to start in this department!
This week’s plan.
This week our big book story is ‘Hullaballoo at the Zoo.’ Our letter of the week is ‘z’ for zoo! Our daily phonics this week are as follows: Monday ‘y’, Tuesday ‘u’, Wednesday ‘n’ and Thursday ‘m’. We will also continue with our Word Lab programme and investigate letter blend ‘sh’. This week in maths we will be focussing upon odd and even as well as number patterns, addition, subtraction and sorting.
Look out in today’s school newsletter for the hot Lunch.
Don’t forget your library books on Friday!
On these rainy, chilly days please could everyone remember to bring along a jacket to school as we spend lots of time moving from class to class each day and to the hall. Gumboots can also be brought along to school or worn to school.
Soon we are going to be changing this newsletter format. Over the past few weeks we have been working on updating and changing our school website. Our newsletter will be up there soon in a ‘blog’ format. More information will be sent out before this happens!
Have a wonderful week everyone.
