"Ring, ring, ring" goes the fire alarm!
We were met by a man called Ian, a lady Lady Vicky, Rob and the rest of the McKerrow Street Fire Fighters.
We saw the enormous fire engines with their ladders and hoses that were ready for action.
We went into a classroom and the Fire Fighters taught us all about being safe. Willow dressed up as the Fire Chief. We learnt that Fire Fighters wear special clothes. They wear boots, gloves, a suit, helmets, big tanks on their backs and masks on their faces. All these stop them from getting burnt or from breathing in smoke.
All of a sudden the classroom filled with smoke, the fire alarm went off and we had to get down low, stay down low and crawl through the tunnel and get outside.
If there is a fire the rules are..."Get down, get out and stay out!' We learnt about having a meeting point at home or at school in case of a fire.
Willow the fire chief got to wear the fire fighter outfit and she called 111 to report the fire. She was very brave and told the man on the phone that there was a fire at the Fire Station. Luckily, this was just pretend but the big fire sirens did go off.
Our favourite part of the day was having a go with the big fire hose. There was lots of water, we soaked Vicky's car. It was funny!
Our visit has sparked lots of writing this week. We can't wait to send our pieces of writing to the Fire Fighters.
