In Mt Algidus we were feeling lots of excitement mixed in with some nerves about cross country day.
We felt very fortunate to be able to walk around the cross country course and have a sneak peak at where we would be running during the afternoon of racing.
Before we knew it children and grown ups from Methven Primary and Our Lady of the Snows started arriving. We showed around some of our new friends and got ready for an action packed afternoon.
Mr B and Mrs Elliott on the loud microphone welcomed everyone and gave us the instructions. Soon enough we moved to the warm up area to play a fun game with Miss Dyer before lining up at the start line.
"Ready, set, GO!" said Mr B and we were off.
We heard lots of cheering and our school friends encouraging us.
Mrs Markham met us at the corner as we went out into the paddock next door. "Look out for the cow poo's" we shouted.
"Run faster, keep going." said the Mums and Dads being marshals on the course.
We jumped over the cow poo's, skidded in others and climbed up over the hay bales. Back through the hedge to the roar of parents, grandparents, teachers and children cheering for us all.
Phew! We got to the end. Feeling very tired and puffed, lots of us headed off to the food stall for yummy cake, ice blocks and sausages in bread with oozy tomato ketchup.
