This week Mt Somers welcomed Nyah from Tinwald School and Livi, Isobel and Mae from Mt Algidus. We are luckily enough to have some more girls in our class. This week we have been very busy creating our Mothers clocks. We have designed the background for our clocks by drawing 2 pictures and 2 designs. They are looking amazing. We will finish them next week ready for our special Mums. We also created our Koru families. They represent all the people in our families. Some of us included our pet. The pictures have been attached to our Mt Somers Whare. ANZAC topic has continued in our class. We have learnt lots of new words and lots of things about the war. We planted poppies in cups and are hoping that they will sprout. Mrs Elliott brought along her photos from the time she went to Turkey and Gallipoli. We could see where the ANZACs landed and now understand why so many died. We could see that they landed in the wrong place. We made a few connections from the story we had read ‘Jim’s Letters’. She also showed us the trenches that the ANZACs and Turks fort in. We think they were very close to each other and learnt that they sometimes threw each other food. Next week we are going to continue our cross country practise and learn more about Anzac day and the war.
